What precautions should be taken when storing NiMH battery for a long time?

If NiMH battery is to be stored for an extended period, it's recommended to store them at approximately 80% charge. They should also be stored in a cool, dry place. Because NiMH batteries have a certain degree of self-discharge (approximately 5% per month), it's recommended to perform a slow charge before use after prolonged storage.
